Always Give Thanks

ALWAYS GIVE THANKS.

Almighty God, the source of all life,
Thank you for creating us
in your own image and likeness.
Thank you for sending your only-begotten Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ to come and save us.
Thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit
to dwell in our hearts and sanctify us.
Thank you for giving us Mary to be our Mother.
Thank you for providing everyday for our bodily,
emotional and spiritual needs.
Thank you for loving us and calling us to live
eternally with You in heaven. AMEN

Thank You, Lord, for always being ready to guide us. May I learn to look to You in times of decision, and may I come to cherish Your loving guidance more each day.
Thank You, Jesus, for the gift of Your Holy Spirit! Thank You that You have not abandoned us but have given us a taste of Your own heavenly life.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your perfect love that casts out fear. Thank you for your faithfulness to me even when I am unfaithful. Your love and faithfulness enable me to stand firm in the midst of temptation and tragedy. Help me give you every situation so that, more and more, you can dwell in me.

Office Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit!

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Office Prayer

LORD Jesus, as I enter this workplace, I bring Your presence with me. I speak Your peace, Your grace, and Your perfect order into the atmosphere of this office. I acknowledge Your Lordship over all that will be spoken, thought, decided and accomplished within these walls. LORD Jesus, I thank You for the gifts You have deposited in me. I do not take them lightly, but commit to using them responsibly and well. Give me a fresh supply of truth and beauty on which to draw as I do my job. Anoint my creativity, my ideas, and my energy so that even my smallest task may bring You honor. LORD, when I'm confused, guide me. When I'm weary, energize me. LORD, when I'm burned out, infuse me with the Light of Your Holy Spirit. May the work that I do and the way that I do it bring hope, life and courage to all that I come into contact with today. And, oh LORD, even in this day's most stressful moments, may I rest in You. In Your strong and powerful Name I pray. Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph the Worker - (Patron Saint of Working People and Social Justice)

Joseph, by the work of your hands and the sweat of your brow, you supported Jesus and Mary, and had the Son of God as your fellow worker. Teach me to work as you did, with patience and perseverance, for God and for those whom God has given me to support. Teach me to see in my fellow workers the Christ who desires to be in them, that I may always be charitable and forbearing towards all. Grant me to look upon work with the eyes of faith, so that I shall recognize in it my share in God's own creative activity and in Christ's work of our redemption, and so take pride in it. When it is pleasant and productive, remind me to give thanks to God for it. And when it is burdensome, teach me to offer it to God, in reparation for my sins and the sins of the world. (Note: This prayer was taken from the booklet "Devotions to Saint Joseph" by Brian Moore, S.J., printed and published by the Society of St. Paul.)

COME AND SEE

COME FOLLOW ME

The seven deadly sins

The Seven Deadly Sins
"Sin creates [an inclination] to sin; it engenders vice by repetition of the same acts. This results in perverse inclinations which cloud conscience and corrupt the concrete judgment of good and evil. Thus sin tends to reproduce itself and reinforce itself, but it cannot destroy the moral sense at its root."
Para. 1865, Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1994

Why bother about the Seven Deadly Sins?
Before even beginning a discussion of these Seven Deadly Sins, also known as "capital sins," it may be useful to discuss a few differences among Christians on this subject. Some people feel it is better to take a more positive approach to faith and not dwell on sin. Others believe all sin is equally repugnant to God, and so any classification of sins is wrong. Still others just want to forget the whole thing since they are saved and God loves them and really doesn't care about all this "stuff."
Inscribed in ancient times at the Oracle at Delphi: "Know thyself." Self-knowledge follows closely behind the knowledge of God, and self-knowledge for anyone means knowledge of sin. "My own heart shows me the way of the ungodly." Scripture says we are all sinners, and we don't mind as long as the sins are nameless and faceless. When we name a sin found in ourselves (by Grace) it is as though we are confronted in the back alleys of our souls with furtive saboteurs and muggers who seek to prevent our union with God. The sudden self-revelation of a serious fault is one thing: the discovery of a deadly sin which we hate very much in others is worse. It is like finding out a spouse is unfaithful, or worse, that we have been blindly unfaithful to the Spouse of our soul.
The following pages on the deadly sins may lead to horrible discoveries. Bear in mind:
· Friends will almost never volunteer this information.
· If they do, we will not accept it.
· God forgives anything, even repeatedly, so do not be afraid.
A combination of good spiritual reading (nothing too recent), nearly constant prayer, and reflection on the repetitive patterns of life works well for naming our sins. Remarks made in job performance reviews and conversations with people who dislike us are especially revealing. Our enemies usually lack the false charity to deny our sins. No wonder we are called to love them.
The human capacity for self-delusion is nearly limitless. We have all seen people claim great spirituality but do evil things and then ignore or rationalize them. Somehow we think we are immune to this phenomenon.

Prayer to Mary "The knots- looser"

PRAYER TO MARY “THE KNOTS-LOOSER”

Holy Mary, full of God’s presence, during the days of your Earthly life you agreed with all humility to the Father’s will And the evil one could never deceive you with confusing lies. You interceded for us to your Son for our needs and with complete simplicity and patience you gave us an example on how to solve the problems of life. You, who are our Mother, untie the knots of confusion and make us closed to the Lord. Holy Mary, Mother of God and ours, who with Motherly love solve the problems of our life, accept in your hands the troubles of N…..and free him/her/them from the ties of confusion set up by our evil enemy. Through your intercession and example, deliver us from every evil and solve the knots that separate us from the communion with God. Deliver us then from every confusion and mistake, so that we will preserve in our heart a dwelling place for Him, and be able to serve Him in our brethren, AMEN.

Prayer for the Home

Pray for the home.
Mary, Queen of heaven, be Queen also of our home. Help us to love God, to avoid sin and to live in peace with one another. Help us in every need, keep us from all harm. Comfort us in our afflictions and may the prayers we offer to you be a sure promise of your heavenly protection. AMEN.
